The Arkansas baseball team is headed to the College World Series. The Razorbacks booked a ticket to Omaha with a convincing win over SEC rival Tennessee on Sunday.
The team celebrated by jumping into a retention pond beyond the right field wall. The equipment staff had the task of cleaning up the mess.
Arkansas advanced to last weekend’s Super Regional after sweeping through the Fayetteville Regional as a top seed. They then made quick work of the Volunteers in an emotional series.
Tempers flared throughout the weekend. Arkansas pitcher Zach Root started the fireworks on Saturday by verbally berating Andrew Fischer after recording an out. The hostility continued into Sunday’s matchup as the Razorbacks began to pull away in an 11-4 victory.
That final result ended Tennessee’s season. It kept Arkansas’s rolling. The Hogs’ next stop will come in Charles Schwab Field. A national title will be on the line!
Arkansas baseball celebration goes viral.
The team celebrated the Super Regional win by diving into “Lake Norm” behind Baum-Walker Stadium. That “lake” is actually a retention pond where a number of Arkansas players often fish.
On Sunday, it was a swimming pool. Freshman pitcher Steele Eaves leapt into the pond as teammates and fans cheered him on.

Eaves’ arose from the pond with a jersey stained by the dirty water and mud. Equipment staff went through the process of cleaning the uniform to be used in the College World Series. It looked brand new by the time the crew was finished.
Equipment manager Mark Taylor posted an update on Eaves’ jersey condition a few hours after the Arkansas baseball celebration. It only took one wash cycle!
